Golf Courses in Thailand
Bangkok
|
Alpine Golf and Sports Club
Alpine Golf and Sports Club's picturesque hills were created from
flat rice paddy fields and the changing elevations may remind you more of places
like Chiang Mai, Hua Hin or even Myrtle Beach. The rolling fairways and
undulating greens at Alpine differentiate the course from any other in Bangkok.
Eighty percent of the greens slope from back to front, so keeping the ball below
the hole is the key to shooting low scores. Good fairway and approach shots will
be rewarded while badly placed shots held subject to costly
penalties.

Bangkok Golf
Club Bangkok Golf Club's 18 hole championship course is always well
maintained to international tournament standards. The main features of course
layout are the strategic arrangement of water hazards and bunkers. The Par 5 9th
has been rated as one of the best 500 holes in the world by Golf Magazine in
America and hosting the 2003 Volvo Masters of Asia further added to the course
designs' credibility. Another course highlight is the 11th hole, where the
island green requires good confidence to hit a strong tee shot over the water
and carry the bunker blocking the front of the
green. |

Best Ocean Golf
Club Best Ocean Golf club is a golf course that every golfer playing
in Thailand needs to try at least once. Being located west of Bangkok and near
to the sea; the breezes at Best Ocean lend themselves to very pleasant playing
conditions. In addition, a links style course layout makes Best Ocean unique
among Bangkok’s top courses. The course has narrow fairways and elevated, well
guarded greens, both characteristic of award winning Schmidt-Curley
designs.

Lam Luk Ka Country Club Lam Luk Ka
Country Club offers the best 36 hole layout in all Bangkok and provides a very
relaxing golf day in Bangkok. Because it's a little further out and features two
courses, tee times are usually easy to find. Both courses meander through
Bangkok’s wetlands, where over 10,000 trees and waterways provide homes to over
100 species of birds and wildlife. There has been a great deal of tree planting,
so the courses are already are blessed with more shade than many of the newer
Bangkok golf courses.
as does the 15th tee.

Muang Kaew Golf Club Recently
redesigned by Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley from the USA, Muang Kaew now boasts
18 well guarded greens, many of which are elevated with large side catchment
areas, a very unique design aspect and hardly ever seen on Thailand golf
courses. Wide fairways give players some respite for approach shots, most of
which are into difficult to hold greens due to the aforementioned elevation
changes, high lipped bunkers, and shaved fringes.

Navatanee Golf Club One of the top 3 Bangkok courses and
host of the 1975 World Cup of Golf, Navatanee has improved with time and matured
into one of Bangkok’s most beautiful courses. Play is strictly for members only
during weekends, but the course does allow international guests to play during
weekdays. The Navatanee golf course is always well maintained and the
caddies are very knowledgeable. Some great holes are sprinkled throughout the
course including the short Par 4 5th which is one of the more difficult despite
being only 329 yards, and the Par 5 9th around the water, which receives
unanimous approval from all who play here.

Summit Windmill Golf Club Summit Windmill is one of the
most challenging layouts in Bangkok. Despite its difficulty, it continues to
remain an attraction for all types of players as course conditions are always
kept up well. Water comes into play on many of the holes starting with a
large hazard that flanks the left side of the long par-5 1st hole. The same
concept is repeated on the 18th and both these holes also happen to be the golf
course signature holes that well exemplify the course challenge. The 1st hole is
a long 624 yards, even by today's standards, and the 18th is an exciting
finishing hole that can provide some dramatic endings to any round.

Suwan Golf & Country Club Suwan
Golf & Country Club is a new course is just less than an hour drive from
Bangkok. Surrounding fruit orchards and rice fields along with the golf course's
hilly and challenging layout makes every hole have its own
unique character. More than most other Thailand golf courses there are
many holes with significant elevation changes where level fairways play up to built
up and well guarded greens.

Thai Country Club The course as
expected is well-maintained year-round and features a great variety from hole to
hole, along with an abundance of water and sand bunkers. With its immaculate
presentation and conditioning, coupled with a very strong and classic parkland
layout, Thai Country Club is regularly voted as a Top 5 course in Asia. Thai
Country Club is a layout that requires good course management. It's hard to
imagine the terrain here was originally flat, especially when looking across the
pleasantly rolling earth mounds, contoured fairways and often elevated greens.
The fairway and greenside bunkering is superb, almost like a work of art.
Anything wayward from the tee will usually be findable, but is also likely to be
sitting down in clinging semi-rough, making your next shots just that bit more
difficult.

Vintage Golf Club The Vintage Golf
Club is one of Bangkok’s lesser-known layouts, so much so that many players are
pleasantly surprised by this course. Vintage was designed by renown US golf
architect Arthur Hills, one of his only Asian creations. The course also retains
many of the natural surroundings like marshes with reeds and multi-colored
bougainvillea plants to give the golfer the feeling that he is in the Thai
countryside rather than at a championship course in the outskirts of Bangkok.

Windsor Park & Golf Club Windsor
Park is set in a large park land on the outskirts of Bangkok. The course
features mature tree lined fairways, many green side bunkers, sweeping creeks
and ponds, and sloping greens. The first 27 holes consisting of Courses A, B,
and C all opened the same time and share similar design characteristics. All
aspects including design, challenge, beauty, and playing conditions are in
perfect harmony making Windsor golf a perfect course for all players. Windsor
Park Golf Club is a favorite among locals and an excellent choice for thosewho
appreciate a good course that is away from the Bangkok hustle and bustle.
